For years now we have all been exhorted to drink at least eight glasses of water a day if we wish to remain healthy. So-called “health” magazines in particular and various TV programs have pushed this particular need. Personally I am not a great fan of drinking water – I much prefer juice. And coffee.
I am somewhat relieved, well, no, that’s not quite true as I didn’t follow their advice in the first place, I feel somewhat vindicated is perhaps a more accurate way of phrasing it, as researchers at Indiana University School of Medicine hunted for evidence to support this need and failed to find any at all. In fact, their studies suggest that adequate fluid intake is met by drinking juice, milk, and COFFEE. Another medical myth bites the dust. Perhaps I’ll be left in peace now to enjoy my coffee.
