More OM System Prices Going Up

Being mainly a micro 4/3 photographer I was not happy to see this news arrive in my email inbox today. So, heads up if you’re into OM System gear – some prices are going up. It’s not unexpected of course, but still unwelcome – photographic gear from mainstream manufacturers is already expensive.

What Has Already Happened

OM System officially raised prices on accessories and consumer audio products starting September 8th, 2025. As a photographer I have many accessories so that was already a hit that caused financial pain with prices going up by roughly 11%. That doesn’t sound a lot I know, but on pricy items it adds up.

And What Is Going to Happen Next?

Despite having a sale on right this moment it looks like cameras and lenses are going to be next on the list. The rumor is those price increases are going to start in early October 2025.

Bearing in mind that OM System’s flagship camera the OM-1 mk 2 is $2,099.99 and the newly released OM System M.Zuiko Digital ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO is $3,699.99 the price hike is going to hurt.

Why is this happening?

If any photographer anywhere in the USA ever thought that the tariffs were going to be paid by the country they were imposed on they should already have changed their tune.

Other brands like Sony, Canon, and Nikon have already upped their prices considerably. OM System will now be following suit. Add in the poor standing of the US dollar in the world and these hikes are going to hurt.

With OM System Prices Going Up What Can You Do?

Quite honestly? If you are an OM System/Olympus shooter not much if you want new gear. Buying now while a promotion is on is a good idea but that ends really soon. And then the price rises will take effect.

I am sure that OM System will still run sales and/or promotions but it’s quite likely that any discounted prices will prove to be more expensive than the current pricing levels.

Once prices go up buying used gear is a good idea but again, don’t delay. I have already noticed an uptick in used prices among systems that have already raised their prices. All modern digital gear has gone up across the board.

So, in a nutshell, don’t delay. Both new gear and used gear are going up in price.
